Movements of Consciousness

Or could I just say thoughts?   In the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali the vrttis or movements of consciousness are listed as correct perception, false perception, imagined perception, memory and sleep.   According to Patanjali  Yoga is the stilling of those movements .  Otherwise consciousness moves incessantly from one thing to another – from one thought to another – becomes one thought, then another.  I identify with that flux and call it me to myself.  If the flux ceases where am I?   Patanjali says I assume my true form.  In the meantime the thoughts continue…
